An intermediate level lecture course conducted entirely in English by Architect Tom Rankin (BA, Princeton, MArch Harvard), for students of architectural engineering.
Course Programme
SEMINAR ONE This intensive intermediate-level course uses readings from applied technology as a basis for practical discussion and written exercises. Topics addressed will include new technologies of planning, management, communications, transportation, building and environmental protection. Students will be expected to come with an intermediate language level (B1) and participate actively in the class activities.
Each lesson will introduce concepts and solutions from global technology. Students will also be expected to read short texts on technology and society from the bibliography below. Readings will be made available digitally.
Course work will include reading, discussion, observation of English-language videos, and final student presentations made in English to the class.
A written exam will test students understanding of the course material and ability to write in English. A passing grade will require participation in class and at least 18/30 on the written exam.
