XXXIV General Assembly and Scientific Symposium URSI GASS2021

The XXXIV General Assembly and Scientific Symposium (GASS, www.ursi2021.org) of the International Union of Radio Science (Union Radio Scientifique Internationale - URSI) will be held at Sapienza University of Rome, Faculty of Civil and Industrial Engineering, and will be a hybrid event (permitting both on-site and online) to overcome the difficulties posed by the COVID19 pandemic. The possibility of on-site and online attendance stimulated a huge participation of the radio science community from all over the world and more than 1700 submissions have been received. The GASS of URSI are held at intervals of three years to review current research trends, present new discoveries and make plans for the future research and special projects in all areas of radio science.Research areas related to radio science and their impact on modern technologies are well-consolidated within URSI and in constant progress. Outstanding examples of interest for many institutions and industries involve radiofrequency and microwave communications, antennas, remote sensing applications, electromagnetic compatibility, electromagnetic metrology, ionospheric radio-propagation, radioastronomy, quantum electronics up to bio-medical applications.

The scientific program of the GASS2021, organized around the ten URSI Commissions (https://www.ursi2021.org/program/), includes scientific sessions, plenary and public lectures, tutorials, workshops, short courses, a special programme for young scientists (https://www.ursi2021.org/youngscientists/), and a student paper competition (https://www.ursi2021.org/grants-award/).
